Fitting batteries will mean you need to have - or at least move to - a dual electricity tariff whereby you can enjoy, at much reduced night rate, cheaper electricity for a number of hours when you are asleep. Many utility companies offer such dual tariffs. This means you pay a higher price for each unit of electricity you use during the day but during the night a much lower rate when national demand is reduced. During these hours you can charge batteries or a power wall in order to draw on these reserve of cheap electricity during the day, instead of immediately drawing from the national grid at the normal higher priced electricity.
